Our Trying to Conceive Story in One Blow

:::Copied & Posted from my Facebook Notes:::

Okay Everyone.

This note is not directed to anyone. And I want to make sure that you know that this note is not meant to be taken rude, disrespectful, or impulsive. I just want to make sure that ya'll know what's going on. And to help educate the simple minded.

Me & Spencer have been trying to conceive our second child since December 2009, and obviously have gone through numerous negatives on pregnancy tests. We tried for a year on our own, then recently in March 2011 we started seeking help from a Infertility Specialist on post. I have only seen this Dr. once as my cycles are REALLY long. (I'll get to cycle meaning in a moment) Spencer has taken a SA (sperm analysis) and he's squeaky clean, an over achiever, A+ test, etc. So whatever issues we are having, are all on me. I have taken numerous vitamins, prenatal, and other pills. I also test for Ovulation with those urine dip sticks. It can take your body 6 months to a year to adjust after stopping birth control. There is only a 20% chance of getting pregnant each cycle, even when all factors are perfect.

(SO to those teenagers who think it's not possible, think again....everything is possible. Hello, Hayden is the proof. Accidents happen.....I'm not saying Hayden is a mistake, and wouldn't change it for the world. So I know I'm going to sound like an old person here but WAIT!!)

After my Dr. appointment I had back in February, he had put me on Provera (Progesterone) & Clomid (Clomiphene). Provera is used to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant. Which I have MAJOR problems with.
Clomid is used to induce ovulation (egg production) in women who do not produce ova (eggs) but wish to become pregnant (infertility). Clomiphene is in a class of medications called ovulatory stimulants. It works similarly to estrogen, a female hormone that causes eggs to develop in the ovaries and be released.

Yesterday (6/28/11) I went into the Lab. for a blood draw. And this morning (6/29/11) I received another negative.

Now we get onto the Cycle part of the note. Cycle is from the first day of your menstrual to the next menstrual. CD1 (cycle day) is always the first day of red flow.  If you don’t start AF until the evening, it’s still counted as that day. My case is it can range from 30 days to 112 days without having a menstrual. So that's why I am taking Provera to induce it. Once I start, on day 3 (or CD3), I start on Clomid.

I also drink POM (Pomegranate Juice). Yes that funky, $4 bottle in the juice section. I drink that from CD1 to suspected Ovulation Day. Pomegranate juice can help to thicken your lining which would help with implantation.

Implantation meaning Sperm meets Egg = Baby in the making

And to help with Implantation there is Pineapple Core. It can help with implantation.  I eat 1/5 of the core from O - 5dpo, but not longer.  Not a ton of people do this, but I do it.  It's better if you make it into a smoothie.

There is also a thing called Implantion Bleeding. Implantation bleeding is very rare and can only be determined after you get a positive pregnancy test.  If you have spotting, just mark it in your chart and keep your fingers crossed.  It might be the elusive AF (Aunt Flo), it might be random spotting, it might be the start of AF, only time will tell.

I'm also avoiding Advil & Motrin as those can effect with Implantation. Tylenol is the best.

I also want to make sure people out there trying know this... ""Please don't prop your hips up in the air, stick a pillow under your butt, stand on your head, etc.  All of these activities are just begging for a UTI."" All of the smart and strong sperm are already well on their way to the target.  Everything that's leaking out after sex is just the fluid and the dumb ones, go pee!

I also have a blog, that I help explain what I'm going through, I chart, temp, and on a support website/message board with other ladies who are also going through the same experience as me. Sometimes with women worse than I am.

I also want to add. Saying things like "Stop Trying", "It will happen when it will happen", When are gonna have another one?", etc.  to a person trying to concieve.....Is a big NO NO. It hurts to hear that when they already know.
